Northern region to develop farming

The Department of Cultivation under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has held a seminar on developing the cultivation of vegetables, fruits and tea under the Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices (VietGap) standards in the northern region.

The zoning areas for clean vegetables in the northern region are still few in number and many provinces have not set up a zoned area. The Hong (Red) River Delta alone has only 676ha of clean vegetables meeting VietGap standards, accounting only for 0.18 per cent of the Delta’s total vegetable area.

New rules needed for overloaded vehicles

The HCM City Association of Goods Transport on Thursday asked the municipal People’s Committee and Department of Transport to issue regulations on overloaded vehicles.

Vehicles that carry too much cargo or goods have caused serious problems, threatening traffic safety and leading to a decline in the price of goods transportation. The price decline has affected the operation of transport companies that do not violate overloading regulations, according to the association.
