HCM City sees 9.05% inflation, year-on-year
The HCM City consumer price index rose by 1.27 per cent month-on-month in January and by 9.05 per cent over the same period last year, according to the Statistics Office.
Revenue from retail sales and services topped VND32.6 trillion (US$1.7 billion), or 4.6 per cent higher than last month and 34.2 per cent up year-on-year, according to the Department of Industry and Trade.

Ministry sets up website for English teachers
The Ministry of Education and Training and British Council have opened a bilingual website at www.teachingenglish.edu.vn for Vietnamese teachers of English.
The site provides English lessons based on 10th, 11th and 12th grade textbooks and tips on correcting students’ mistakes and managing large classes.

HCM City earmarks $31m for health projects
The HCM City People’s Committee would spend VND600 billion (US$31.58 million) on more than 100 health projects this year, Huynh Van Biet, deputy director of the city Department of Health, told a conference last Friday.
The city’s Tumour and Cancer Hospital will receive VND37 billion and Tu Du Hospital, VND27 billion. His boss, Nguyen Van Chau, said the health sector spent only 80 per cent of its allotted fund last year.
