VN newspaper festival opens in Paris
The first Viet Nam Spring Newspaper Festival opened last Saturday at the Vietnamese Cultural Centre in Paris, with Spring and Tet editions of more than 500 newspapers on display at the 200sq.m venue.
Also on display are films on the Lunar New Year and Ha Noi's 1,000th anniversary later this year.
The nine-day festival will be an opportunity for the Vietnamese media and a chance to showcase the country's achievements, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Do Quy Doan said.

First National Women's Week begins
The first National Women's Week began yesterday in celebration of International Women's Day, March 8.
Organised by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Viet Nam Women's Association, it will feature forums for businesswomen held in HCM City and Ha Noi and the conferring of the Bong Hong Vang (Golden Rose) award on six female State officials and 100 businesswomen.

Centre helps students take entrance exams
The HCM City Student Support Centre has identified accommodations for an additional 10,000 at 300 locations for students coming to the city from provinces to take the upcoming university entrance exams.
Its annual programme, titled Tiep Suc Mua Thi (supporting student in the university entrance exam), had already readied accommodations for more than 1,000 students.

PM issues decree on road infrastructure
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has issued a decree on management of road transport infrastructure which makes it mandatory for infrastructure plans to dovetail with socio-economic development and transportation plans.
It also requires 24-26 per cent of new urban areas to be covered in roads.
