City Work Safety Week to curb accidents
HCM City ‘s Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Department has set March 14-21 as Work Safety Week. Businesses, trade unions and employers across the city have been asked to increase protection against all workplace accidents.
Last year the city had 1,319 labour accidents, 102 of which were fatal, chiefly in the construction sector.

An Giang to host quality products exhibition
Viet Nam's High Quality Products Exhibition 2010 will open next Tuesday in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang.
Over 170 businesses from around the country will run 500 stands at the exhibition at An Giang University until March 14, according to Vu Kim Hanh, director of Viet Nam's Business Studies and Assistance Centre (BSA).
Business people from Cambodia's cities and provinces including Phnom Penh and Kandal will be invited to take part in seminars held at the exhibition

Motorbike drivers cause 70% of City accidents
Motorbike drivers caused 70 per cent of the 1,123 traffic accidents in HCM City last year, according to the city's Traffic Safety Committee
The accidents caused by motorbikes killed 649 people and injured 365 others.
HCM City now has over 4 million registered motorbike users not including a million from neighbouring provinces.
According to the city police, nearly 1,000 new motorbikes are registered every day, a 10 per cent increase over last year.

Seminar eyes ways to aid riverboat dwellers
Clean water and better hygiene for people living on boats in rivers in Central Thua Thien – Hue Province were among top topics discussed at a seminar organised in Hue city on Tuesday.
The seminar organised by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Thua Thien-Hue Construction and Water Supply State Co also discussed state policies to assist people living on boats.
Last year, Thua Thien-Hue Province allotted land for more than 800 households who lived in boat villages in Huong (Perfume), Dong Ba and An Cuu Rivers.
The authorities will allot more land this year to relocate 100 more households living on boats.
