Planes sought for use against forest fires

The Steering Committee for Forest Protection, Fire Prevention and Control has asked for the use of aircraft to monitor forest fires in Ta Sua Nature Reserve in northern Son La and Yen Bai Provinces that have been put on high alert for fires.

The area is full of obstacles and difficulties to access by other means and so planes are an imperative need, the committee said.

Besides, they can supply food and drink to firefighters and rescue endangered people quickly.

The committee has also asked Military Zone 2 to provide fire extinguishers.

The alert has been raised to level 5 in 19 provinces, the highest level, and to level 4 in 23 others.
