Hoa Binh modernises 800 classrooms
The northern province of Hoa Binh has built an additional 740 classrooms and 177 teacher houses after a two-year project. The province has a total of 5,335 classrooms in multi-storey, brick or concrete buildings, making up 64 per cent of the total number of the province's classrooms. Some 2,000 semi-solid classrooms, in one-floor buildings made of brick or concrete, make up more than 23 per cent. The remaining are makeshift classrooms made of rattan or bamboo. The province has also modernised 968 teacher houses, 484 libraries and 105 test rooms. The province plans to build 648 new classrooms and 259 new teacher houses.

Germany supports vocational training
Germany has disbursed 12 million euros (US$16.28 million) for vocational training and climate changes programmes in Viet Nam, and will add 7 million euros ($9.5 million) this year. Germany will also support vocational training projects funded by official development assistance this year.

HCM City hospital trains regional physicians
Doctors from HCM City's Cho Ray Hospital, on March 10, began a training course on laparoscopic surgery used to treat digestive diseases for 10 doctors from Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia and Japan. Apart from theory, trainees will attend operations over the two-week period.

MTV hosts anti-trafficking benefit concert
The MTV Exit (End Exploitation and Trafficking) concert in Viet Nam will kick off in Ha Noi on March 27. The concert, organised by MTV Europe Foundation, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Australian Government Overseas Aid Programme (AusAID), features famous foreign and local singers like boy band Super Junior from South Korea, Kate Miller Heidke from Australia, and Ha Anh Tuan and Phuong Vy of Viet Nam.
Other concerts will be held in Ha Long Bay on April 3, Can Tho City on April 10 and HCM City on April 17. The concert in HCM City will feature American boy band The Click Five.
