Vietnamobile launches ‘Maxi Talk' promotion

HA NOI — Furthering the spirit of its "Keep Talking" campaign, Vietnamobile has launched a double value promotion called "Maxi Talk".

Only VMAX, Northern SIM and Student SIM users, subscribed since October 17, 2011, and those that have recharged less than three times will qualify for the new deal.

The programme is only applicable to charged MaxiTalk registrations on weekdays , and not for charged MaxiTalk sign-ups on Saturdays and Sundays. Customers making charged MaxiTalk registrations on Fridays are still entitled to free use on Saturdays.

McAfee introduces new PC security line

PM awards Hi-Tek Multimedia boss certificate

HA NOI — Hi-Tek Multimedia Inc's General Director Phuoc Lee Johnson was awarded a certificate of merit by the Prime Minister yesterday for contributions to the country's Internet development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Phuoc said that Hi-Tek Inc was the leading domain provider, out of a total of 15 national services, enjoying the highest market share. Over the last 10 years, the company has worked closely with Vietnamese authorities to provide national domain registration, carrying out e-commerce projects while assisting businesses in integrating with the global economy. It has additionally succeeded in developing the Vietnamese language on the Internet.

Hitachi wants to develop outsourcing in VN

HA NOI — Four business delegations from Japan's Hitachi will exchange experiences on outsourcing and business development in terms of information technology on November 14.

Hitachi businesses are keen to investigate their Vietnamese partners' capacity and experience in outsourcing development and exchange co-operative and training models. Hitachi will work with domestic IT companies to develop and trade IT products and solutions to handle social and infrastructure issues such as telecommunication networks, education, fire prevention, traffic and food safety management systems.

Japan delegation visits Thang Long Data Centre

HA NOI — Japanese State Secretary Kimiaki Matsuzaki, alongside a delegation from the Global ICT Strategy Bureau, recently visited the Global Data Service Company (GDS) at the Thang Long Data Centre in Ha Noi.

Matsuzaki praised the advanced IT environment of the joint venture, especially its development and application of cloud computing technologies. Koichiro Otaki, CEO of GDS, said that cloud computing was shaping how data centres operated in the digital era of Google, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, online gaming and smart phones. With the support and technology from the NTT Communications Corporation (Japan), GDS has managed to introduce and develop cloud services in Viet Nam.

Beeline again warned over promotion package

HA NOI — The Ha Noi Department of Information and Communications and the Ministry of Information and Communications have warned network provider Beeline that its VND1 billion (US$48,000) mobile package was in breach of promotion regulations.

The package, introduced last month, permits subscribers net-balances of only $48,000 when buying sim cards of VND20,000 ($0.96). The department had previously warned Beeline of the same offence in September this year.— VNS
