US firm confirms Viet Nam's growing game market

WASHINGTON — Pearl Research, a California-based business intelligence and consulting firm specialising in the internet and technology, confirmed that Viet Nam and India are two fast growing markets.

It has forecast that the number of gamers in Viet Nam and India will reach 25 million by 2014.

In a report on the games and digital entertainment markets in Viet Nam and India made public on March 4, the company found both markets driven by rising incomes, increasing PC and internet penetration rates, and a large population of youth, actively seeking entertainment content.

Bunka-Viet Nam opens new shutter, door factory

HUNG YEN — Bunka-Viet Nam Co Ltd inaugurated a new shutter and door factory, with a total investment of 6 billion JPY (US$64 million) in Thang Long II Industrial Park of northern Hung Yen Province last week.

The factory will provide shutters and doors to the Vietnamese market with an expected capacity of 100 shutters and 500 doors per month.

The factory is expected to come online on April 1.

Vietnam Airlines gets go-ahead for new private carrier

HA NOI — The Government has given a nod to Vietnam Airlines to set up the joint stock carrier VietAir.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai asked Vietnam Airlines to work with the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Finance on the project.

Hai also suggested Vietnam Airlines take into consideration the participation of the Viet Nam Aircraft Leasing Company for the VietAir carrier.

Nestle Viet Nam reduces milk product prices

HCM CITY — Nestle Viet Nam has bucked the trend of rising prices for powdered milk by lowering the prices of a number of its products.

A 900mg can of Lactogen for instance was reduced from VND131,000 to VND125,000.

The move was part of Nestle's effort to fulfill a vow it made last year of making a long-term reduction in milk prices, beginning with cuts back in May and July of last year, the company said. — VNS
