Land delays hinder work on City dyke
HCM CITY — Land should be acquired and cleared quickly for building a dyke along the Sai Gon River in HCM City's Thu Duc District, deputy chairman of the city People's Committee Nguyen Trung Tin has said.
The three-year-old project to build the dyke to protect the district from flooding has been delayed because land prices have yet to be amended in accordance with the Government's Decree No 69 last October.
At a meeting on Monday with local authorities, Tin instructed the Thu Duc People's Committee to submit the new land prices to the city for approval, ensuring continuation of the work which is scheduled to be completed this year.
The VND203.6 billion (US$10.72 million) project includes a 11.34km dyke, an 8.24km reinforced concrete wall, and 30 drainage culverts. — VNS
