Four burned in illegal mine explosion

THAI NGUYEN – Four workers were burned when gas exploded at an illegal coal mine in northern Thai Nguyen Province on Monday.

The victims, aged between 24 and 31, suffered severe burns to 70-90 per cent of their bodies. Their condition is critical.

Illegal coal mining has increased in the province during the past six months.

Child dies playing with gun in Dak Lak

DAK LAK — A 10-year-old boy was killed while playing with a gun in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak on Sunday, said the Provincial Police.

The victim, Thai Ba Tuan, was a friend of the gun owner's two children. The three were playing when it went off, killing Tuan immediately.

Last year, a 14-year-old boy accidentally killed his sister-in-law when playing with a gun in the same location. Police are investigating.

Software guide to Con Dao cemetery

CON DAO — HCM City-based Tri Tue Viet (Intelli Viet) Joint Stock Company and the city's Department of Science and Technology yesterday donated software that will help digitise the operations of Con DaoIsland's Hang Duong Cemetery.

The software will help create an online 3D map of the cemetery at hyperlink www.nghiatranghangduongcondao.vn and an electronic kiosk at its gate to help relatives and visitors easily find where remains are buried.

About 10,000 people are buried in the cemetery.

One dead after coach, truck collide

QUANG TRI — One person was killed and 10 others injured when a coach collided with a truck on National Highway 1A in central Quang Tri Province's Hai Lang District on Monday.

The injured were treated at Hue Central Hospital.

The driver of the coach reportedly lost control of his vehicle while speeding.

Police are investigating. — VNS
