Convict transfer pact signed

HA NOI — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of South Korea in Viet Nam yesterday held a ceremony to exchange documents on their convict transfer agreement.

At the ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son and South Korean Ambassador to Viet Nam Park Suk Hwan signed the minutes of the ratification of the agreement, which was inked in Seoul in May last year.

The agreement became effective yesterday. It will help strengthen co-operation between the two countries' judicial bodies and also mark an important step in the two sides' co-operation in crime prevention and fighting.

ASEAN people's forum set to take place

HA NOI — The sixth ASEAN People's Forum, with the theme "Solidarity and action for ASEAN", will take place in Ha Noi from September 23-26.

The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations yesterday organised the second meeting to prepare for the forum.

The meeting was held to establish committees for the coming forum.

Participants of the meeting agreed that the forum would consist of six plenary sessions and 16 other workshop sessions on issues that raised most concerns among peoples in the region. — VNS

Delegates at the 11th National Party Congress yesterday voted to elect members for the 11th Party Central Committee, which will consist of 175 official and 25 alternate members.
As many as 175 official and 25 alternate members will be elected to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) for the 11th tenure.
Delegates to the 11th National Party Congress yesterday made recommendations to draft documents submitted.
