Viet Nam dominate regional table tennis tourney

HA NOI – Viet Nam finished with five gold medals at the Southeast Asian Table Tennis Championships in Marikina city, in the Philippines.

HCM City-born Mai Hoang My Trang took a crucial win over Beh Lee Wei of Malaysia in the women's singles final before taking another gold in the team event on Wednesday night.

Earlier, Trang and her teammate Mai Xuan Hang also won the women's doubles event.

Olympian Doan Kien Quoc and Tran Tuan Quynh won gold in the men's doubles for Viet Nam after taking the title in the men's team event.

Viet Nam dominated the championships in the absence of top international stars such as Gao Ning and Yang Xi of Singapore. – VNS
