HCM CITY — The Viet Nam Tennis Federation (VTF) has announced its team of players for the Southeast Asia (SEA) Games in Indonesia in November.

The team, which includes four male and four female players, is coached by Truong Quoc Bao and Nguyen Dinh Bao Tri.

Along with veteran players Do Minh Quan and Ngo Quang Huy, the men's team also introduces two new young faces, Nguyen Hoang Thien and Ho Huynh Dan Mach.

The winner of the national youth tennis competition, Thien, 16, also reached the final of the ITF junior tennis competition in Xiamen, China last week.

Thien won the doubles events at the 2010 Tennis Central 18&Under ITF Summer Championship in New Zealand and the ITF Malacca International Junior Championship in Malaysia

Last year, Thien won the men's singles title at the International Junior Championships in southern Bac Lieu Province.

In 2008, Thien took the singles title in Binh Duong Province.

Born in 1995, Thien first stepped onto a tennis court at the age of eight.

He currently ranks 144th in the International Tennis Federation's junior rankings.

Mach, 16, is another new young player who has had good form recently.

On the women's side, Huynh Phuong Dai Trang, Tran Thi Tam Hao, Tran Lam Anh and Phan Thi Thanh Binh will participate.

Last SEA Games, Viet Nam won a bronze medal in the men's team event. — VNS
