Hai Dong, Da Nang advance to finals

Hai Dong and Vietcombank Da Nang made it to the final round of the Budweiser 6v6 International Cup Qualifiers after finishing on top in the central region qualifiers in Da Nang on Saturday.

Thirty-two teams participated in the central region qualifiers in a round robin tournament divided into eight groups.

The qualifiers would continue at Nha Trang Stadium this Sunday. Thirty-two teams from the coastal city would vie for their chance to move to the next round. The last qualification round is organised in HCM City on March 27.

This year's tournament began with 128 teams engaged in battles at the qualifying levels in Ha Noi, HCM City, Da Nang and Khanh Hoa Province. The final eight teams would play in the finals at Thong Nhat Stadium on April 4.

 

Viet Nam to send 450 athletes to China

Viet Nam would send 450 athletes to compete in 27 of the 42 sports scheduled to take place at the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China this November.

Athletes would compete in such sports as: taekwondo, wushu, archery, athletics, billiards, snooker and others.

Long An spike Ha Noi at tourney

Binh Dien Long An cruised past Ha Noi 3-2 in the group A opener of the National Volleyball Championship in Buon Ma Thuot on Sunday.

Although short of key attacker Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa, who injured her knee, the southern women's team easily won 25-10 and 25-17 in the first two sets before winning the third set, 25-13.

In group B, the Military Signal Corps crushed HCM City's Tan Binh 3-0. In men's group A, defending champions Gold Star Border Guard Command beat Binh Duong 3-0, while Military Zone 5 beat out Military Zone 9 3-1.

The annual championship has drawn 24 men's and women's teams for the two leg championship. — VNS
