More greetings pour in

HA NOI — The General Secretary and the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam continued to receive messages of greetings from major parties, international organisations and diplomatic corps on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Party.

The well-wishers included the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee; General Secretary of the Communist Party of India A B Bardhan; President of the Bangladeshi Workers Party R Khan Menon; President of the Bulgarian Socialist Party National Council Sergei Stanishev; Palestinian State President and President of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) cum President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas; the Palestinian Fatah movement; and the President of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party S Bayar.

The Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee expressed their pleasure at the development of friendship and solidarity between the two Parties and peoples.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India praised Viet Nam's economic development, describing the economy as a rising Asian star. These achievements were attributed to the CPV's skilful guidance, he wrote.

The President of the Bangladeshi Workers Party expressed his belief that under the leadership of the CPV, Viet Nam would fundamentally become an industrialised country in 2020, strengthening the foundation of its socialist society.

The President of the Bulgarian Socialist Party National Council said the Bulgarian people would always support and pay close attention to Viet Nam 's national renewal process and that they highly appreciated the traditional co-operation and friendship between the two parties.

The Palestinian State President roundly praised Viet Nam's persistent stance of solidarity with the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom, independence and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State.
The Palestinian Fatah movement praised Viet Nam's role in and approach to Middle East and Palestinian issues, on the basis of the history between the two parties and countries and the close relations between Presidents Yasser Arafat and Ho Chi Minh.

Also, the President of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party expressed his belief that friendship and co-operation between Mongolia and Vieãt Nam would continue to be fruitful, for the benefit of the two peoples and for peace, stability and development in the Asia-Pacific region. — VNS

Delegates at the 11th National Party Congress yesterday voted to elect members for the 11th Party Central Committee, which will consist of 175 official and 25 alternate members.
As many as 175 official and 25 alternate members will be elected to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) for the 11th tenure.
Delegates to the 11th National Party Congress yesterday made recommendations to draft documents submitted.
