PM stresses Viet Nam, Laos education relations

HA NOI — Education is a priority sector, according to top Vietnamese and Laotian leaders in the bilateral co-operation programme set for this year.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the remark while hosting Laotian Minister of Education Somkot Mangnormek in Ha Noi yesterday.

Dung expressed his pleasure at the fine development of the traditional, friendly relations between the two Governments and peoples while speaking highly of talks between the two countries' education ministries.

The two ministries should hold more meetings to seek practical measures to boost the effectiveness of co-operation projects, Dung pointed out.

For his part, Mangnormek thanked the Vietnamese Government for helping the Laotian people in education and expressed his belief that co-operation in education would help preserve and bring into full play the traditionally warm ties between the two peoples.— VNS
