Viet Nam priorities tie with Peruvian Communists

HA NOI — The Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) attaches great importance to strengthening its friendship and solidarity with the Communist Party of Peru – Red Fatherland (CPP-RF), a senior Vietnamese official said yesterday.

Truong Tan Sang, a member of the Politburo and permanent member of the CPV Central Committee's Secretariat, made the statement while receiving a CPP-RF delegation headed by President Alberto Moreno Rojas in Ha Noi.

Sang spoke highly of the victories of the Latin American left-wing movement and the part played by the CPP-RF.

He expressed his belief that together with other progressive left-wing parties, the CPP-RF would record even greater achievements in the future and that the friendship and co-operation enjoyed by the two Parties, as well as the people of Viet Nam and Peru, would go from strength to strength.

Rojas applauded the achievements made by the Vietnamese people during the renewal process, which he said were a shining example to communist and left-wing parties in Latin America and the world.

He said he wished to see the friendship and co-operation between the two Parties and two peoples grow still further.

Defence Minister greets Chinese military advisors

HA NOI — Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh yesterday met with a delegation of experts and advisors from China who had assisted Viet Nam during the American War.

At the meeting Thanh stressed that during the struggle for national independence, Viet Nam received strong support from international friends, especially China.

The assistance from thousands of Chinese experts and advisors contributed to Viet Nam's victory over the US imperialists, he said.

He also expressed his belief that the delegation would benefit from their visit to Viet Nam, which would contribute to increasing mutual understanding and would help bolster the traditional friendship and co-operative relations between the two parties, states and armies.

Lt Gen Gong Gucheng, on behalf of the delegation, expressed his delight to pay a visit to Viet Nam, where he served during the American War. The general said he hoped that the traditional relations between the two nations would continue to prosper. — VNS

Delegates at the 11th National Party Congress yesterday voted to elect members for the 11th Party Central Committee, which will consist of 175 official and 25 alternate members.
As many as 175 official and 25 alternate members will be elected to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) for the 11th tenure.
