Viet Nam, Japan to boost strategic relations
HA NOI — Politburo member Truong Tan Sang yesterday affirmed Viet Nam's policy to develop relations with Japan and strengthen their strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.
Sang, who is also the permanent member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, was speaking with Takebe Chutomu, Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party and President of the Japan-Viet Nam Parliamentarians' Friendship League at a meeting in Ha Noi.
Sang said he highly valued the effective co-operation among Japan's Parliament, Viet Nam's National Assembly and the friendship league.
Takebe said the visit aimed to foster co-operation between the two parliaments and affirmed that Japan would co-operate effectively with Viet Nam in implementing agreements between the two countries, especially in launching strategic projects.
Leaders send messages of goodwill
HA NOI — Leaders from the State, Government and thNational Assembly yesterday sent congratulatory messages to their counterparts of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Republic of Tajikistan on the occasion of their national days on September 9.
President Nguyen Minh Triet sent his congratulatory messages to Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly Kim Yong Nam of the DPRK and President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung sent his congratulations to the DPRK's Prime Minister Choe Yong Rim.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Gia Khiem sent a congratulatory message to his counterparts Pak Ui Chun of the DPRK and Khamrokhon Zariphi of Tajikistan.
Viet Nam, Germany to foster defence ties
HA NOI — Viet Nam and Germany will foster co-operation in national defence industry, military technical research and military training in the future.
The two countries will exchange delegations and experiences in preserving peace and overcoming war's aftermath.
The agreement was reached yesterday in Ha Noi during a meeting between Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of National Defence, and Germany's Secretary of State in national defence Rudiger Wolf.
Vinh said the visit by Wolf would help strengthen friendly relations and mutual understanding between the two countries' armed forces and people. — VNS
