VN denies US dumping claims

HA NOI — Vietnamese enterprises did not dump wind turbine towers on the US market, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Thanh Nghi yesterday.

In reply to questions raised by reporters about Viet Nam's reaction to the US Department of Commerce's decision to investigate alleged dumping of Vietnamese products, the spokesman said the decision was groundless and did not reflect the manufacturing of these products in Viet Nam.

The statement went against US commitments made during the 19th Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) summit in the US in November 2011 to promote green industry and facilitate international trade.

Nghi said he expected the US Department of Commerce should handle this issue in an objective, fair manner in the spirit of trade liberalisation, multilateral commitments and the good economic and trade relations between Viet Nam and the US. — VNS
