DA NANG — The Cao Daist Missionary Church held its fourth congress at Trung Hung Buu Toa Oratory in the central city of Da Nang yesterday.

The congress reviewed the church's operations over the past five years and discussed programmes for the next half decade. Presentations focused on the church's ceremonial activities, construction of new parishes and places of worship and on encouraging followers to take part in social and charitable activities, while preserving family and religious traditions.

It also reported on new appointments to the church's committees and modifications to religious regulations.

The event was attended by Nguyen Thanh Xuan, deputy head of the Government's Committee for Religious Affairs, and Le Quang Toan of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilisation.

The Cao Daist Missionary Church, which has 46,000 followers, has 66 parishes and places of worship in 18 provinces and cities nationwide.

Founded in the early 1920s in Viet Nam, Caodaism is deeply influenced by ancient oriental culture and Western culture. — VNS
