Hopes held for joint efforts with Finland

HA NOI — Viet Nam hopes to foster co-operation with Finland in human resources training, tourism and labour, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung yesterday in Ha Noi.

The Prime Minister was meeting with Finnish Minister of the Interior Anne Holmlund.

He said he highly valued the results from Holmlund's working sessions with Viet Nam's Ministry of Public Security.

Dung said the visit would contribute to the development of co-operation between the two ministries, adding that he hoped Finland would support Viet Nam in human resources, fire and crime prevention.

Holmlund said the long-lasting relationship between Viet Nam and Finland was the foundation for further co-operation in training, tourism, labour and industry.

On the same day, Permanent Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Khanh Toan met with Holmlund.

He said he believed the visit was a milestone in co-operation between the two ministries, which was based on existing relations in exchanging experiences and co-operation in combating and preventing crime.

Holmlund said the relationship between Viet Nam and Finland had developed in various fields and that co-operation in combating and preventing crime was significant.

The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on combating and preventing criminal at the end of the meeting,. — VNS
